Lourdes In Litchfield

The Grotto of Lourdes in Litchfield, a picture of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception as the snow was coming down.
The Grotto
The Holy Stairs up on the Hill
A beautiful statue of Saint Joseph.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A long drive that should have taken an hour and a half, but I managed to take a different route and ended up farther south in Connecticut. I would have arrived a bit earlier and a bit less snow but it was wonderful to see a different part of a different State. Since going abroad is impossible with no passport or a way to get there, the next best thing is finding one close to home. And since they changed it to passports to cross the border into Canada, that too will be on hold for awhile. So no visit for me to the Eucharistic Congress coming up unless a few things become possible. That too is in God's hands and mine too, can't do much without those. Well anyway, going to neighborhood Shrines gives them support as well as giving me moments of awe and wonder for the love God bestows on us all.

I am with you on the travel bit...no time or money to do much traveling. MAybe some day though.
However, nearby NY is a must this spring.

I have always dreamed of going on a tour to Spain, Portugal and Rome for a shrine tour, and, God willing, will make that tour in the near future.

I like looking at the live webcams at Lourdes.

The pictures you posted here are lovely, I agree with jackie.

Thank you Jackie!

Ah teresa, NY with the Pope in the spring, lucky you. I would love to see and meet the Pope too but I didn't try to get tickets to go and see him. I kinda had a feeling they were only passed out to those with influence in Parishes so I didn't try.

It has always been a dream of mine to go to Europe someday and visit the many Shrine's and areas of History. Getting a passport is easier than getting there, unfortunately. One place I have desired to visit is the Holy Mountain of La Salette and Lourdes, I've always believed in both. Maybe that's why she chose to let me take her name when I made my promise, St Bernadette. Like you if God willing I may get to go there. And thank you too for being a blessing also.

You still have until tomorrow to get your bus ticket online from the archdiocese if you can afford it right now. Deadline is Feb 11, tomorrow.

Single tickets get priority over groups.

I am not going with a parish group, but bought a ticket solo. Bus boarding locations are assigned to the nearest assigned church parking lot in your zip code. There I will meet other of the Faithful from different parishes, some whom are going to be in town for the men and women's conference I understand.

teresa, thank you for the link. I did it and applied for one, can I say ouch for the moment. But I'm glad I put in for a ticket, solo as well. I wonder how long before I know. And to think I wasn't going to try. See your a blessing after all.

Woo Hoo!
It doesn't say when the list will be coming out, but if they ran out of tickets(i don't think they did because they sent emails to everyone on the list on Friday saying that they were opening it to everyone now UNDER 14(which was the minimum age all week).
Refunds will be issued as a credit directly to the card.
I pray it is a good day and not one with 6 hours in the April Showers.!

Beautiful photo's. I am hoping to work on making my garden a prayer garden for this year.

I have many statues that can go into the garden so am just designing it in my head while the last of summer has its day:).

I did have a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes but gave it to our neighbours as they had none.

But, I do hope oneday to go to Lourdes itself...ah..oneday.....

Peace to you MC:)

I always wanted a Mary's Garden and usually plant lots of flowers each spring. However, last spring all the grass got some kind of a disease and even the stalwart evergreens rotted and croaked.
I have no clue what to do this year or where to begin to arectify the problem other than spend a ton calling in a professional to test things out.
So much for my Mary's Garden this year.

Thank you Marie, that was nice of you to give a statue to your neighbor. And a Mary's Garden really does sound beautiful.

Teresa have you looked on line for some of the causes of the problems, it might be something quite simple, too much water, not enough drainage, etc. The soil might be to acidic or sandy.

Now making a Mary's Garden sounds like a challenge and great undertaking for the spring. Is starting seed now too soon?
