A Need

What should be a lighthearted time of year is not always the case for very many. Much bombards their hearts such as: worry, fear, hopelessness, despair to name a few. Yet we see smiling faces in spite of the inner turmoil they are having. They don't know how to turn to God in the moments that darkness overtakes them, or pause to pray for divine assistance.

Why am I mentioning this anyway, because it's real for many and they need prayers. We all know it's a time for rejoicing in the birth of our Lord and many know that, but we also live in a materialistic world that eats up our souls. Some are not strong enough to battle the foe alone, they need help. Praying for others gives them the hope to take another step another day.

Why is it many face hopelessness during the Christmas season anyway. It's not because of the birth of our Lord, he is our hope. It's because some are alone with no one to be there as everyone else is gathering as family. Or they have family but circumstances have brought them low. So many things contribute to it when at another time of year it is different and not so hopeless. Have we then gone overboard at this time of year to create this hopelessness in people. Where we spend beyond our means to give to those we love and from that we sacrifice what would pay the bills or buy food for the table.

We can change that hopelessness and turn it around and begin by showing that this time of year is all about what it is meant. That of the Birth of our Lord. Mary, the Immaculate Conception, who we celebrate this day and who we read about in the Gospel gave us this special time. A time where we venerate the birth of our Savior. It is a time of JOY, then let us pray for each other, not just those we know but those who struggle so they will find the true meaning of this Christmas time.
