Eye Openers

I had such a wonderful thought yesterday morning and I wanted to write of it. It was just so good and as the day progressed that wonderful thought slowly became lost. Even now I cannot recall what it was. Those moments I believe are the moments when we receive a form of consolation at doing what was right in our thoughts. I do know it had to do with love and that is the closest I can come to it.

I also had an opportunity last night to be part of a team at my Parish and found how truly lacking I am. These people are very active and know so much and I in my small contribution find myself in a pool a giants. This is good for me too, since it will boost my people skills. But it's the area of where I lack that holds me back a bit. It's communicating in a way that is heard rather than be cut off or talked over. I'm not very loud when I speak or should I say I try not to be heard out of fear of my opinion being rejected. Now that is a revelation. So it's something I need to work on. And I do believe God is doing exactly that, by putting me in areas to develop the skills I need to be the person he intended to be. He is so Good and loving. I'm proud to be part of that huge family of His.

MC, it's wonderful to get opportunities to improve ourselves so we can be of more service, but also, it's one of the great things about the Body of Christ, that whatever gifts we are lacking someone else is bound to have, and vice-versa. But I'm quiet like you, so I tend to offer my services "behind the scenes", and really admire those who are at ease speaking in public.

It is amazing what He wants to draw from us, so that we may not only see it, but employ it. He knows things about us that we haven't even glimpsed yet, but indeed, G, everyone has a different gift. A priest himself once said that of priests, too -- some are better homilists, some are great at administration, some are dynamic, some are quiet like Our Lady.. etc.

OH me too Gabrielle, but I have no problem speaking in front of people, public, it's speaking in general about what's going on and what not that have me at a disadvantage. I don't watch the tv or listen to the radio, nor am I active in community of the town or Parish other than CCD. So my limits are limited. I have gone to Shrine's, gone to formation classes for my ongoing formation in the Dominican Laity, but for Social issues and Church social issues I am at a loss. Reading what comes from the Vatican is not the same for the need to get broader in scope for dealing with others in the Parish setting. After Mass the social aspect is a given it's the inner workings that I have begun branching into and I have lost the ability to ask questions etc in a group ivolved setting. I hope that made more sense in what I originally tried to say on the blog. I think also, that there are some areas that we are better it's just finding the right niche.

Justme what you said is so true, God gives us all different gifts, imagine if we all had the same gift, would there be anything to learn then. I like your point about the priests though, they each contribute in the way they are gifted, God is awesome when he does that.
