Choices

Ever get ready for an event and something happens to disrupt those plans. Well it happened in mine. My dad went to the doctor's yesterday and the doctor wheeled him to the emergency room. The office is in the building across from the ER. Well anyway, his heart is doing some strange things. They ruled out a heart attack and have kept him in for observation. So with this happening, I had a choice to make. Forsake going to the ER and being with my dad and teaching or forsaking teaching and being with my dad. I ended up at the ER to give my love and support. It was good as I was able to give my dad a prayer card. A prayer to St. Raphael, which I have been keeping with me lately. So after a brief nights sleep here I am writing and getting ready for work.

He is due to have a stress test sometime today, and with this lovely wireless phone I will be able to be informed of any changes. He was in good spirits when we left last night.

Last night was the first night for CCD too and I wasn't there to greet the families and the kids. Sometimes these are the toughest choices to make. I am reminded of several of Jesus' reflections about leaving family and following him and such. Yesterday I was all set to teach and even said it to my mom when she informed me of where my dad was headed. After I was finishing up calling the family and letting them know. I began to doubt and thought to myself, what if this is the last time I will see my dad. I don't know if I chose correctly, but yesterday I put family first. To pray for and give my support and love to one in need. When I made the decision, I was at peace knowing that is where I was needed. And God knows more than anything my heart belongs to Him first of all.

I don't think I have to ask because I know you will, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for lifting him up to the Father in prayer.

Praying, MC. I think you made the right choice, to honor your father by making the sacrifice of going to the ER. I would certainly have done the same thing, for you served God just as well.
