Family

It was a nice day today to see some family that I haven't seen in quite a few years. One of them is going into the Marines and the reason for the gathering to wish him well. This get together was done on short notice. I gave him one of the medals I had gotten. None of the medals are the same, the one I had with me happened to have been the one for guardian angels. I'm glad I gave it to him.

One of my cousin's had me explaining the Dominican Laity and the part I have in it. She is so tickled pink with the name I chose for when I make my first promise in September. St. Bernadette of Lourdes is what came to me and the name that will be mine as part of the community of Lay Dominicans. They are happy for me and I am happy too.

One cousin and I were reminiscing about the days long gone, he is a special young man who has gone through so much. He doesn't like himself too well because he is having weight issues and even when he was thinner he still didn't like himself. All I do is give him positive reinforcement and someday I hope it will help him or finally give him the strength to be positive too. Amazing he has such a great personality but such a low self-esteem about himself, and he has a great job too. Life is good it seems, but somewhere he isn't happy. He has a Marian shrine in a corner of his computer room too. I will pray for him and those who suffer in such a way as he does. That their cross is not so burdensome but embraced with faith.

Amen MC. My brother had such problems and didn't make it. There are some very sensitive souls out there in this dog eat dog world...

Yes there certainly is and I'm sorry if I hurt anyone who is that way, because I don't like to hurt either. I'm sorry about your brother, my cousin is not only battling weight, he is also gay and also a drinker. But yet he laughs alot and is good natured.

And some of us are to a degree sensitive to many things, my cousin I try to help, and believe me I spent time talking to him while he was inebriated and wanting to commit suicide. I wouldn't let him off the phone several times when his mom would call worried. He hasn't had an occasion like those in quite awhile, but then again those episodes came about with the death of my aunt, his grandmother.

We can't change what was in the past, only what is now. With prayer we can bring about healing for loss and forgiveness for those who let go when it wasn't their time.

My brother was gay too, and we only found out when he committed suicide. We had no idea at all that that was at the basis of his psychological problems. I wish I'd had a chance to tell him it wouldn't have mattered to me at all.

I believe he knows that Pia even though he isn't here. My cousin I think has a hard time with who he is also, even though he says he accepts himself. Some have a hard time especially Catholics knowing God's will.
