When God Opens the Eyes of our Heart

My Parish is doing a thing with Vocations, where each week a Crucifix is at a home for them to pray for vocations. Sometime ago those who wanted to do this had signed up for the special time to pray. I signed up, and finally was called to let me know I have a wonderful week to pray for this blessing from God to call his children. It is always a part of my heart that many will hear his calling and come follow him in the religious life and give to the people their heart for the kingdom of God.

The calling from God is such a beautiful gift, one that many hear but refuse to understand. Or choose to keep buried. He does continue to call many, and we in our daily lives shut him out. Following him and doing his will is by far a great gift, and a tremendous undertaking. Not many want to associate with those who are chosen, because all they do is eat, drink and breath all that is of God. It is their way of life. If Ididn't have this myself, then my own understanding would be lost. And it's true, how talk of God is always on the forefront of my life, for me it is what I desire above all else. This is my longing to be forever part of God's heart, where his beats in time with mine.

There are times when life intrudes and I too falter and fail in my love. Yet God picks me up when I go to confession and receive his forgiveness. This is a beautiful gift to go to and empty our souls of sin and find the grace of God's mercy and love. One thing I have noticed as time progresses in my life, is the desire to not sin. I found when I err I am hardest on myself for not being strong enough. But as I said, confession is a beautiful place to put our trust in God's love and mercy. And from there, striving to live life without sin. None of us are perfect, least of all myself. I'm just grateful for the fact that he called my heart to his. It's wonderful when we are called and listen to that still small voice that says come, follow me.

The passionists promote something like that in some of the communities where their monasteries are located. I wish our passionist community here could do it, but I don't think our pastor would allow it. He didn't even mention that last Monday was St. Gabriel of the sorrowful mother's feast day and that there was a procession at the abbey (which is part of our parish territory). I guess he's jealous and thinks people would prefer to go to the abbey for mass instead of the parish. It seems he only respects the friars when he needs them to say mass for him when he goes on vacation.

Priest get jealous? Hmm I thought they were suppose to be as close to God as possible, no flaws. But then again they are human and make mistakes just like the rest of us.

Oh, we know that, the problem is that sometimes they don't realize it... :-)
